Pre-School Education: Basic Problems And Solution Suggestions
Abstract
The purpose of this research, according to teacher opinions, determine the basic problems encountered in pre-school education and is to develop solution suggestions for these problems. The study group consisted of 24 pre-school teachers working in official independent kindergartens and kindergartens in Edirne province in 2018-2019 academic year. The research is designed in a qualitative research pattern. The data were evaluated by content analysis. According to the participants, the regularly non-payment of student dues and the lack of budget of the schools are among the economic problems. The majority of the participants stated that there were problems in the education process due to the lack of support and interest of the families in pre-school education. According to the teachers, inadequacies in the guidance and supervision system, lack of teachers’ break periods, dual training practice, shortage of staff and lack of legislation are among the problems in pre-school education. In order to solve the problems encountered in pre-school education, the teachers made suggestions that the expenses of pre-school education should be covered by the state, families should be made aware and pre-school education should be included in compulsory education. © 2019, Milli Egitim.
